OUR GUEST SPEAKER:
Author-Illustrator, Peter H. Reynolds has flown from Boston, USA to Buenos Aires for this rare evening of story-sharing, optimism, creativity and inspiration. Educators, parents and children will all enjoy his "moving" messages. In fact, no matter what your age or profession, there is a powerful lesson to be applied from Peter's fables.
Peter has spent 25 years crafting stories, media and technology that challenges children (and grown-up children) around the world to reach their full potential. Peter, with his twin brother Paul, founded FableVision (www.fablevision.com) creating innovative learning software and interactive media. FableVision and Peter have both won numerous awards and have partnered on many different projects with several different organizations including PBS, Scholastic, MIT and the National Academy of Sciences. Peter is advocate for “off the path” learners and is dedicated to exploring creative ways to reach ALL children - especially those who struggle and whose gifts take extra effort to discover. "We have to believe that EVERY child is capable of navigating their true potential. We have to be more creative with those children - and that requires that WE be creative and generous thinkers. It's not easy - but we have no other choice. I always say – “When the going gets tough - the creative get going!”
THE EVENT WILL FEATURE:
The evening will feature a multimedia presentation narrated by Peter, a reading of his most famous stories "The Dot" and "Ish" and the Buenos Aires premiere of the animated version of his cornerstone book, "The North Star" which reminds us all to listen carefully to the signs that will guide us on a meaningful journey. Peter will also delight the audience with a short lesson on how to use computers to animate, using the program he designed for young children in the classroom. Peter will teach us all to draw the one drawing that his father would draw on the sandy beach in the summer. "I was in awe that my father could draw! I raced home and tried making the same drawing as my dad. And then I kept going!" Peter's father was born in Tandil, Argentina.
A CHANCE TO WIN!
There will also be a special raffle of autographed copies of Peter's book and some original watercolor art.
This evening's event is a fundraiser for La Urdimbre (www.laurdimbre.org). We thank you for your support!
